Robert Joseph Sander, age 77, of Monroe, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital.
Robert was born January 1, 1947, in Detroit. He was the son of Joseph and Evelyn (Rutkowski) Sander. He married the love of his life Mary Lee Corbett April 12, 1969, in Tomahawk, WI.
He was a 1965 graduate of Jefferson High School, attended Michigan Technical University, and obtained his bachelor’s degree in business from Wayne State University.
Bob was employed by Tenneco for more than 40 years, retiring in January 2009.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Bob enjoyed the outdoors, golfing, grilling, and fishing with his sons and grandchildren and loved every moment he spent with his wife.
Bob is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Mary Lee; two sons, John (Kristin) Sander of Arlington Heights, IL and Cory (Chelsea) Sander of Zionsville, IN; two siblings, Jacqui (Richard) Morris of Ocala, FL and Allen (Mary Beth) Sander of Maricopa, AZ; five grandchildren, Ava, Matthew, Corbett, Cooke and Copelynn.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 15, 2024, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI 48161. He will lie instate at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Church with a Mass of the Resurrection at 11 a.m. Rev. Michael Anagbogu, associate pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe.
The family suggests that memorial contributions in Bob’s memory be made to the American Cancer Society.
