Mary E. Cunningham

Mary E. Cunningham, age 83, of Princeton, TX, formerly of Monroe, passed away Friday, December 29, 2023 at Medical City Hospital, McKinney, TX.
Mary was born January 12, 1940 in Strawberry Plains, Tennessee; she was the daughter of George W. and Bessie (Cook) Mabe. She and her family moved from Strawberry Plains to Monroe in 1951. She was a 1958 graduate of Monroe High School. She married George M. Cunningham September 12, 1958 in Monroe; he preceded her in death on July 24, 1995.
She worked at K-Mart in Monroe and Big Lots in Allen Texas for more than 20 years before retiring in 2017. In 2005 she moved to Princeton Texas to be closer to her son.
Mary enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
She is survived by her son, Kevin G. (Cyndi) Cunningham of Dallas, TX; three siblings, Jack Mabe of Dallas, TX, James Mabe of Grand Prairie, TX and Betty Matousek of Plano, TX and several nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, John Mabe; three sisters, Maxine Berry, Ann Talsma and Wanda Weiler.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Road, Monroe. On Thursday, January 11, 2024 all are welcome to meet at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe for a committal service that will begin at 1 p.m.
