Vito P. DiCarlo Jr. 

November 10, 1944 – January 20, 2024

Vito Peter DiCarlo Jr., age 79 of Monroe, passed away the evening of Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the Regency Hospital, Toledo. 

Born November 10, 1944, in Monroe. He was one of three children of the late Vito Sr. and Augustine “Justine” (Marino) DiCarlo. Vito graduated from Monroe High School in 1962. He later continued his education at Monroe Community College to achieve his associate degree. 

After school, Vito completed his skill trade apprenticeship. He worked at Chrysler Automotive at the Trenton Engine Plant as a Tool and Die maker. Vito used to be the Union Representative at Chrysler, for the retirees. He had spent 37 and a half years of dedicated service, retiring in 2002. 

Vito met and married the love of his life: Bernadine “Bernie” Soncrant on June 26, 1965 in Monroe. He always treasured going to Veterans Park to have lunch with his wife. They also loved traveling and going to their cottage in Irish Hills. They raised a family of seven children and spent over 58 wonderful years together. 

Vito was a past member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He would donate his time and energy in many ways. Vito loved playing Santa Claus for several families, for around 50 years. In his free time, Vito enjoyed going for rides, on his motorcycle and convertibles. He liked to go roller skating and go swimming at the YMCA. Vito was a big collector of many things, like matchbox cars or McDonalds toys. He also liked to be working in his vegetable garden and woodworking. 

Vito was the head of his large family. He loved it when everyone was all together. Vito will be remembered as someone who always got into things. Always friendly to talk to and has never met a stranger. Vito will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of his loved ones. 

Beloved husband of Bernadine DiCarlo. Loving father of Vito (Nichole) DiCarlo III, Jessica (Monte Jr.) Petit, Mark (Cindy) DiCarlo, Antoinette “Toni” (Jim) Steinert, James (Stacey) DiCarlo, Justine (Mike) McGlynn, and Angela (Doug) Johnson. Dearest grandfather of Vito IV, Aaron, Tony, Tyler, Caitlyn, Nicholas, Benjamin, Madison, Emily, Markie, Kelsey, Christopher, Samantha, Alexa, Sal, and Giacamo. Great grandfather of Vito V, Angelaina, Julien, Ana, Noelle, Jacob, Sophie, Peyton, Mason, and Luca. Dear brother of Tina DuVall and Pasquale “Pat” DiCarlo Sr. 

In addition to his parents, Vito was preceded in death by granddaughter: Jessica Steinert. 

Everyone is invited to a visitation on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Rupp Funeral Home from 2 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Rupp Funeral Home. Vito will lie instate at 9 am with the funeral service starting at 10 am. The minister conducting the service is his Godson Craig DiCarlo.  There will be a committal at St. Joseph Cemetery, where his ashes will be laid to rest at a later date. After the committal there will be a luncheon to follow. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made in honor of Vito Jr. are suggested to Dementia Awareness.
