Thomas Monaghan Wolcott

Thomas Monaghan Wolcott, age 74, of Bloomfield Hills (previously of Royal Oak), passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from complications of lung cancer. Tom graduated from Brother Rice High School in 1967 and was drafted by the United States Army in 1973. He proudly served his country in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1975. A lifelong insurance agent, Tom's career began alongside his father at Don E. Wolcott, Inc. in Royal Oak. Tom ultimately led the company after his father's retirement and then continued selling insurance through other agencies. Tom had a love for Corvettes, having owned several in his lifetime. His brother, Don, often accompanied Tom as they rode in style down Woodward Avenue. Summers were best spent on the beaches of Litchfield, South Carolina with Tom's sister, Mary, and her family. He was a much loved uncle to his niece and nephews and was "Uncle Tom" to many of their friends. Back home, Tom's favorite hangout was Pasquale's Restaurant in Royal Oak. An avid bridge player, Tom was so well-versed in the game that he could teach it using only a bar napkin. Tom was happiest when he gathered with family and friends, no matter the occasion. Tom is survived by his brother, Donald (Wendy) Wolcott, and sister, Mary (M. Bruce) Edwards; his niece, Theresa (Matt) Cerny; and his nephews, Michael (Cassandra) Edwards and James Edwards. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Elinor Wolcott, and his brother, Kevin Wolcott.
