Marie Hans

Marie Hans, aged 91, of Farmington Hills, Michigan, peacefully passed away on January 13, 2024.
Marie was born in South Bend, Indiana, on September 27, 1932, Marie was the daughter of the late Mildred (Payne) and Lawrence Kitzinger.
A compassionate Registered Nurse, Marie dedicated her skills to Mt. Carmel Hospital, St. Mary Hospital, and Ardmore Psychiatric Care Center, later transitioning into the world of catering.
Beyond her medical profession, Marie embraced diverse passions. An avid reader, crossword puzzle expert, Farmington Glen Aquatic Club charter member, and skilled Bridge player, she was not only a chocolate enthusiast but also a generous hostess in her kitchen. Marie shared her love for music by providing piano lessons to her four children. Her commitment extended beyond personal interests; Marie dedicated over 35 years to St. Gerald church food pantry, earning the esteemed Blessed Father Solanus Casey award for her exceptional service. Marie also volunteered at the Discover shop in downtown Farmington.
Facing a new chapter after the loss of her husband David, Marie exhibited courage and self-reliance at the age of 52. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who always called her "Oma", brought her immense joy, and she never overlooked a birthday. Son Eric reflects, "Our mom always made time to help in raising such awesome grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I am not so sure about us."
Marie is survived by her loving children, Eric (Lynne) Hans, Gretchen (Ed) Guisbert, Heidi (Jeff) Lapham; grandchildren, Katie (Ty) Morrison, Alissa Hans ( fiancé Brett Hanrahan), Bridget (Rick) Stein, Kelsey (Bill) Parente, Stephanie (Jack) Ebert, Curtis Lapham, Brian Lapham and Kevin (Amelia) Lapham; great-grandchildren, Nora and Lucy Morrison, Rowan and Cora Stein, Owen and Mallory Parente, Henry and Benjamin Ebert; daughter-in-law, Margaret Hans; twin sisters, Shirley Delaney of Traverse City, and Norma Muir of Mesa, AZ; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Hans (D. 1985); and dear son, John Hans (D. 2014).
A friend to all, Marie's absence leaves a profound void. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider contributing to St. Jude's or Wounded Warrior's. Complying with Marie's wishes, no funeral mass is planned; a Celebration of Life will be organized for the future.
Please keep Marie and her family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
