GianCarlo Rosanigo

GianCarlo Rosanigo passed away on April 21, 2024 surrounded by his beloved wife and family. GianCarlo was born in Torino, Italy on August 19, 1941 to Margherita Balaudo and Carlo Rosanigo. While attending school and growing up in Torino, he enjoyed spending time in the small countryside town of Cercenasco where his mother was born. The simple life this provided left him with many fond memories of small-town farming life. He remembers the warmth he felt when sleeping in the barn with the cows during the World War II air raids.

After high school, he attended the Fiat Technical School where he learned skills that would lead to a 35-year career working in the automotive industry. He enjoyed his position as manager of the Hydraulics and Pneumatics group of Comau as it provided him with numerous opportunities for international travel.

He met his wife Virginia Minolli in St. Moritz, Switzerland in 1991, which led to a 33-year journey of travel and adventure, including navigating an initial language barrier and many multi-cultural differences. They were married in 2003 in Clarkston Michigan where GianCarlo enjoyed the open space and abundant wildlife surrounding the home they shared there for almost 20 years. He loved to travel with Virginia and was always open to visiting eclectic museums, and sampling the regional and oftentimes exotic foods. Some of their favorite journeys included the Whiskey Trail in Scotland, and the south of Spain but his favorite place was their home on Lake Charlevoix.

He studied classical piano as a young boy becoming quite accomplished and this led to a life-long love of listening to classical music and piano concertos. Growing up only 30 minutes from the Italian alps, he was an avid skier and enjoyed skiing at resorts throughout Europe and North America, his favorite being Jackson Hole Wyoming. His hobbies included gardening and cooking. He spent many hours preparing delicious meals and he truly embraced the “farm to table” lifestyle.

He is survived by his beloved wife Virginia, sons Gianluca and Roberto and grandson Emmanuelle.
