Beverlee Chick

Beverlee Ann Chick was born on March 31, 1937 to the late Milton (Bud) and the late Elsie Cronk and was the eldest of three children. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth Chick and the loving mother of Patrick Rickert, Keith (Michelle) Chick, Adam Chick, and the late Michael Rickert who died on February 15, 2000. She is also survived by her dear sister, Judy Belew and was pre-deceased by her brother, Richard Cronk, who passed on August 23, 1965 in Vietnam.

Beverlee worked at General Motors for many years as a secretary and later, as a legal secretary for an attorney.  She was also a travel agent at Northville Travel.  After she married Ken, they purchased and operated Healthcare Reimbursement Specialists (HRS), performing rebilling services for hospitals in Michigan. Beverly was not only responsible for managing the complete office, but her duties also included the financial and personnel side of the business. HRS grew to be the largest and most reputable hospital rebilling service in the State until the entire industry changed.  Following HRS, Beverlee and Ken started J & B Financial Products, which sold ATM and credit card processing services to retail businesses. Both retired several years ago.

Beverlee loved two things above all else. First was her house in Country Club Village of Northville, and second was the gorgeous water in the Bahamas where they owned a vacation home. She loved to be on the water in their boat or one of the boats of their many friends in Great Harbour Cay. Beverlee could generally be found working on her tan on their deck or riding high up in the tuna tower.

After selling their Bahamas home, she bought one in Bradenton, Florida, and moved her mother and father, whose health was declining, into it. Unfortunately, Bud passed shortly after moving there. They sold that house as her health started to decline and returned full time to Northville. Beverlee was also an avid reader as is evidenced by some 1,000 books in the house.

Over the years, Beverlee suffered from a number of breathing problems. She had "walking" pneumonia a number of times, which later turned into MAC (Mycobacterium Avium Complex), a non-contagious form of tuberculosis, and finally severe COPD. Sadly, her final years found her mostly restricted to bed. Beverlee passed peacefully  on November 3, 2023 at the age of 86 with Ken by her side.

A memorial visitation at L.J. Griffin Funeral Home, Northrop Sassaman Chapel, Northville, will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. and also on Saturday, January 13 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 12:00 p.m. The Reverend Dan Lewis will be the officiant.

In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to the American Lung Association https://www.lung.org/ or the Alzheimer's Association https://www.alz.org/.

Please share your condolences or a special memory with the family on Beverlee's guestbook page.
