Carolyn Sue Ciungan

Carolyn Ciungan was born on December 24, 1959 to Virgil and Kathryn Ciungan in Wyandotte, MI. After graduating from Allen Park in 1978, she went on to study Packaging Engineer at Michigan State University, while helping in her family - who owned the famous Ciungan Shrimp House in Ecorse, MI

After graduation, she landed her first job as a packaging engineer. However quickly transferred into the concierge and hospitality industry, where she also excelled, spending the bulk of her career at the Fairlane Club in Dearborn and then at the Detroit Society as a member of Club Corp.

Carolyn married in 2000 to Dan Vasquez and together they took care of their blended family, tackled life challenges, and enjoyed the little things in life.

Carolyn never had any children of her own, but she decided to dedicate her life to being a fantastic and wonderful guardian mother to her nieces and nephews, whom she raised as her own. She excelled at propping up her nieces and nephews and supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. Whether that was supporting them through the difficulty of losing their mother or her step daughter through Ice Skating or step son in hockey. She made it her mission to improve the lives of others and her family that she loved dearly.

Carolyn was an active Auxiliary member of the American Legion Unit 217 in Wyandotte, MI, where she devoted many hours of service, serving as an officer of the executive board and Auxiliary Poppy Chairwoman.

Carolyn was predeceased by her parents, Brother Marcus, and husband, Daniel Vasquez; and is survived by her brother, Bruce, guardian children Christina (Kyle) Tobin, Kathryn (Yuankai) Dong, and Costas (Bianca) Ciungan; and step children Dan (Lily) Vasquez and Lara Vasquez; along with great nieces Valentina Tobin and Leda Ciungan; and step grand children Annasofia Vasquez and Zyah Stewar.
