Frances Catherine Dimmer

Frances Catherine Dimmer September 14, 1932 - February 19, 2022 Frances Catherine Dimmer - Loving Wife, Mother, grandmother and friend. Frances Welch was born on September 14, 1932 in Dearborn, Michigan and was the only child to Jack and Sheila. After high school she worked for her parents' family business (Dearborn Tobacco). She also worked as a tour guide at Greenfield Village while she attended University of Detroit. In 1955 she graduated from Dental Hygiene School. Frances was bowling in a league when she met her husband, Donald and eventually married him on her birthday in 1962. She enjoyed working as a dental hygienist until the birth of her four boys, John, Michael (Lisa), Brian and Donald. As a child Frances spent her Summers on Pine Lake. She loved it so much that she knew she wanted to raise her family there as well. In 1971 Fran and Don moved from Detroit to Bloomfield Hills. She was always very active. In addition to bowling, Fran was an avid skier and swimmer. She also had many hobbies, such as playing the Stock Market. She was a tough old Irish gal, and it was obvious when she fought and beat cancer. Perhaps her greatest love was sailing; so in 1987 Fran and Don purchased a condo on Lake Charlevoix in Upper Michigan where she sailed her 29-foot, ‘American’ called “Spindrift”. Frances will be dearly missed by her ten grandchildren, Audrey, Lucas, Grace, Lilly, Dane, Violet, Poppy, Dahlia, Sophia and Daisy. They will never forget her warm, wonderful smile and her generous heart. Frances is preceded in death by her husband, Donald (2018) and her son, John (2016)
