William J. Winter

William J. Winter “Bill” died peacefully at his home in Beverly Hills, October 18, 2021. He was 91 years old. Bill was born October 18, 1930 in Detroit to Bridget (nee Hammond) and Francis Winter. He graduated from Saint Brigid Grade School in 1944 and Saint Francis De Salle High School in 1948. Bill proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, 1951-1954. On January 29, 1955, Bill married Rita Margiotta, whom he met while in High School. They purchased a home in Redford Township with a VA loan and had 5 children. In 1968 Bill and Rita moved to Beverly Hills to a home that Bill built and would remain their family home for 53 years. It was there they raised their 5 children, who all attended parochial schools from 1st through 12th grade, and created memories that would make them smile. A Real Estate Developer, Bill constructed and managed everything from single and multi family homes, to retail centers, general industrial and warehouse properties. He worked right up to his last day with future projects that he had designed and implemented. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend Bill was deeply loved and will be sorely missed. Bill is survived by his children, Patrick (Mary) Winter, Daniel (Denise) Winter, Nancy (Bill) Allio, Carol (Tim) Grombala, and Veronica (Dan) O’Hara. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alexander, Marisa, Rachel, Grace, Christian, Grant, Patrick, Mary, Gloria, Will, Monica, Clare, Danielle, Dominica, Olivia, Anthony, Nicholas, Colleen, Emily, Bridget, and Ryan, brothers, Gerald and Louis, cousin, William Winter and many nieces and nephews. Bill is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rita and siblings, Frank, Roy, and Robert. Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Roads) Sunday, October 24th, 2-7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Regis Catholic Church, 3695 Lincoln, Bloomfield Hills, Monday, October 25th at 10am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 9am. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
