Mary D. Brissette

Mary, of Northville, beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, entered eternal life at home on Sunday morning, October 17, 2021. She was diagnosed with cancer on Christmas Eve, 2018, and entered hospice a week ago. Mary was born May 22, 1965, in Detroit, to Lucille (Favro) and the late William Shenk. Mary graduated Ladywood High School in 1983, furthered her studies and earned her undergraduate degree at Madonna University. She earned her Masters Degree in Library Science at Wayne State University in the late 1990's. She enjoyed a 21-year career with the Northville District Library until her illness forced a medical retirement in April of 2020. Mary loved writing, reading, teaching and entertaining children, making jewelry, and entertaining. Additionally, she loved a fourth of July family tradition of gathering for a get-together at White Lake. Most recently, having a love for entertaining and the knowledge that it would likely be her last Indepedence Day celebration, Mary hosted a party in her back yard for family and friends. The day was beautiful and memorable for all in attendance. Above all, Mary's family was paramount in her life. She was a wonderful mother, loving daughter, and cherished sister, aunt, cousin and friend. May she rest in peace. Surviving are her beloved mother, Lucille Shenk; cherished daughter, Isabelle Brissette; dear brother, David Shenk; nephew, Nathaniel; niece, Delphine; cousins, Carlo (Judy) Fugolo, and Mark (Connie) Fugolo (and their children, Tony and Gina); and her former husband, Timothy Brissette. Sadly, Mary was preceded in death by her father, William "Bill" Shenk, on August 13, 2010. Mary's funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday morning, October 23rd, at 10:00 am (visitation from 9:30 am) at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23615 Power Rd., Farmington. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or MARL (Michigan Animal Rescue League). Kindly keep Mary and her family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
