Geraldine “Gerri” Ann (Goodnough) Lamarre

Geraldine "Gerri" Ann (Goodnough) Lamarre, 98 of Monroe died peacefully on February 27 with family by her side. Gerri was a resident of the Orchard Grove Assisted Living facility in Romeo, Michigan. Gerri was born February 10, 1925 in Monroe, she was the daughter of William J. and Anna (Engel) Goodnough. She married Theophile Lamarre November 11, 1949 in Maybee; sadly he preceded her in death June 5, 2005. She was a 1944 graduate of Monroe High School. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, where she was active with the Altar Society, religious education program and Resurrection Choir. She was also part of the Rosary making group at St. Mary Church. Gerri had worked at Consolidated Paper for 4 years before starting her family. Later in life she went back to work at the SSIHM as a dietary aide before her retirement in 1990. Known and loved by all for her sweet smile and kind words for everyone. Her home was filled with music, love and the smell of baked goods especially her signature pies. As well as being a devoted wife and mother, Gerri led a life devoted to her Christian faith. She was a constant example that any challenge in life can be overcome through the power of prayer and an unwavering faith in God. She is survived by seven children, Paul (Melissa) Lamarre of New York, Mark (Cheryl) Lamarre of Niles, MI, Eric (Cathy) Lamarre of Dade City, FL, Suzette (Neal) Miller of Monroe, Michelle Lamarre of Romeo, Keith Lamarre of Monroe and Clarisse (Paul) Simmons of Almont; brother William Goodnough; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren. In addition to her husband; she is preceded in death by a son, Gregory Lamarre; siblings, Bernard Goodnough, Helen Navarre, Albert Goodnough, Marie Burns, Leo Goodnough, Gertrude Matthes, Clarence Goodnough, Loretta Brossia, Lillian Seitz and Dolores Bodine. Visitation will be held Monday, March 6, 2023 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Road, Monroe, the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. She will lie instate Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church with a Mass of the Resurrection at 11 a.m. Rev. Zaid B. Chabaan, Assoc. Pastor of Our Lady of Good Council Church, and Rev. David Burgard, Pastor of St. John the Baptist Church will concelebrate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. John the Baptist Church.
