Francesco “Frank” Furnari

Francesco “Frank” Furnari, 86 years, of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 9, 2023 in his home.
Born January 26, 1936 in Borgetto, Sicily, Frank was the son of the late Francesco and Angela Furnari. Frank served in the Italian Armed Forces and came to Monroe in 1957 from Borgetto.
On November 7, 1959 Frank married his beloved wife, the former Maryann Giarmo, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe.
Frank came to the United States with a strong work ethic and worked tirelessly as a relief man for Ford Motor Company’s Monroe Plant. He retired after 28 years of service to the company. Frank and his family owned and operated Franco’s Pizzeria & Italian Restaurant in Dundee, Michigan from 1981 until 2007.
Frank was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church and the Monroe YMCA. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin in northern Michigan, deer hunting, fishing, making wine, and trips to Florida in the winter. He also enjoyed gardening and tending to his precious Fig Tree. More than anything Frank enjoyed time spent with family.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years Maryann, two loving children: Frank J. (Cathy) Furnari and Sarina C. (Bryan) Kilburn, of Monroe, four cherished grandchildren: Francesco Furnari, Patricia (Dominic) Sprinkles, Maria Furnari – Martin, and Mariah (Dan) Jones, five treasured great grandchildren: Cora, Della, Enzo, Caden, and Angelo, and three siblings: Leonard (Ann) Furnari of Monroe, Joe (Caterina) Furnari of Flushing, NY, and Nunzia Furnari of Borgetto, Sicily.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Angela Furnari – Vitale and a brother, Giacomo “Jack” Furnari.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3 – 8 pm with a 5:00 pm Rosary at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI, 48161.
