Francis Gerald "Jerry" Zwers December 01, 1932 -July 20, 2022 Francis Gerald “Jerry” Zwers, age 89 of LakeOrion, formerly of Englewood, Florida; passed away July 20, 2022. Beloved husband of the lateMary J. (DeBaene) Zwers; loving father of Peggy (Jim) DuFresne, Kathy (Robert) Lietz, Nancy (Jay) Spenchian, and Patricia Zwers; proud grandfather of Jessica (Demetrios), Michael (Melissa), Mary (Jessica), Alex,John, Stephen, Gregory, Meg, and Joseph; great-grandfather of three; also survived by his sister Margaret VanDerGracht and several nieces and nephews. Jerry was born in Detroit, the youngest of five siblings. Hewas a graduate of St. Mary’s of Redford High School,where hemetMary, his beloved wife of 62 years.Jerry proudly served in theUS Army in Korea. In his early years, heworked for Chevrolet, eventually earning a degree at nightfromUniversity of Detroit,while raising four adoring daughters. His entrepreneurialspirit led himto various business ownership opportunities, ultimately leading Mary and himto Englewood, Florida,where they resided for 35 years. Jerry strongly believed in giving back to the community and was a dedicated Knight of Columbus and long-time Rotarian. A devout Catholic, he participated in severalchurchministries and found greatjoy singing in the church choir. World travel and sports were other passions, but none surpassed his love and support of family. Jerry’s work ethic, dry sense of humor, fondness for fun, generosity, and lovewill be remembered by all who knewhim. A memorialmass will be held Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St.Joseph Catholic Church, 715 N. Lapeer Rd., LakeOrion. The family willreceive friends on Friday, August 12, 2022 from4:00 to 7:00,with a prayerservice at 7:00, Modetz Funeral Home, Silverbell Chapel, 100 E. Silverbell Road, LakeOrion.
