James "Jim" Turner was born on November 12, 1956, in Monroe, Michigan, to the union of Edgar and Mary (McAleer) Turner. Jim, a graduate of Monroe High School, dedicated much of his early adulthood to what he affectionately referred to as his journey as a "professional college student." With an insatiable thirst for knowledge, he explored various subjects, ultimately earning an associate's degree in computer operations. For 15 years, Jim proudly served as a Gatekeeper at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe, a role that reflected his deep sense of community and respect for the lives of others. He also contributed his talents at his father's store, Turner Music, where he discovered his lifelong love for vinyl records, amassing an impressive collection that he cherished. Later, he found success in sales, becoming his own boss. As an only child, Jim shared a lifelong bond with his parents, enjoying countless moments together in the family home constructed by his father at the time of his birth. His love for literature was evident in his extensive library, filled with titles, especially those by Stephen King, showcasing his diverse interests and imagination. Known for his quick wit and humorous demeanor, Jim had a knack for storytelling and didn’t shy away from colorful language when the situation warranted. James Edgar Turner, aged 68, passed away peacefully at his home on April 26, 2025, with his loving family by his side. His passing was preceded by that of his parents: Edgar and Mary Turner. Jimis survived by his loving son: Jason (Dion Mexicotte) Turner; Beloved Granddaughter: Abbigail Turner and one Aunt: Peggy (Bob) Snow. Private family services will be held on Tuesday; April 29, 2025. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe with Father Henry Rebello of St. Anne Catholic Church officiating.
