Debra Sue Steffes

Debra Sue Steffes, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at age 67, Monday, May 19, 2025 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo surrounded by unbounded love from her family. Debra was born July 1, 1957 in Monroe, she was the daughter of Elton and Helen (Fetterly) Barron. She lived the majority of her life as a resident of Ida, MI. She married her lifelong love Daniel J. Steffes July 6, 1979. She was a 1975 graduate of Monroe High School and a faithful member of St. Michael Church. Debra deeply loved her family and friends. Her unwavering kindness, infectious laugh, and positivity brought a special kind of impact that will resonate in future generations to come. She enjoyed things like maintaining her flower bed, making dolls, sewing, and doing crafts with grandkids while spoiling them with her love. She enjoyed working out with her friends at the YMCA and doing cardio drumming. She always made time to be there as a wife, mom, gramma, and sincere friend above all. She truly always put the needs of her loved ones above her own. For many years Debra owned a house cleaning business. Not only was she a hard worker but she grew many friendships with her clients that built lifelong connections. In addition to her cleaning business, she dedicated her life to taking care of her loved ones at her own household. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Daniel; two children, Aimee (Zach) Cangealose of S. Rockwood and David (Jocelyn) Steffes of Bellevue, MI; five sisters; Lindy (Frank) Novak, Donna (Bob) Melvin, Michele (Roy) Burke, Joni Barron and Kelly (Ron) Smith; a sister-in-law, Cheryl Barron and four grandchildren, Christian, Evelyn, Nora and Lucy. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William Barron. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe. She will lie instate at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Michael Church with Mass of the Resurrection at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe. Memorial contributions in her memory are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
