Alfred Howard Cloum, age 92 of Monroe, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at home under hospice care.
Born September 17, 1932, in Monroe. Al was the son of the late Alfred and Clara (Engel) Cloum. Al attended St. Mary Catholic Central.
Al met and married the love of his life: Elizabeth Nagy on August 17, 1957, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe. They raised a family of two daughters and spent over 39 wonderful years together before she sadly passed away in 1996.
Al worked at Ford Motor Company Monroe as a laborer for 32 years, retiring in 1996. He was also a former member of the Fraternal Order of the Moose.
Al loved going up north to his cabin in Atlanta, MI, where he spent many years deer hunting in the northern woods. He was very particular about his lawn, and always made sure it was done right or he’d let you know about it. Al also very meticulous about his red Ford truck. In his free time, you could find him relaxing back with a Bud Light in his hand enjoying his time spent with family and friends. He will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of his loved ones.
Surviving are his beloved daughters: Patricia (Gary) Malvitz and Susan (Douglas) Burns; four loving grandchildren: Lee (Tabatha) Malvitz, Daniel Malvitz, Callie (Dan) Foxworthy, and Christina (Sebastian) Campbell; four great grandchildren: Lucas, Owen, Lillian, and Wyatt; one sister: Gloria (Paul) Bussell; and sister-in-law: Judy Cloum.
In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by wife: Elizabeth Cloum; and siblings: Barbara (Robert) Fox, James (June) Cloum, Charles Cloum, Anthony (Patricia) Cloum, and Robert Cloum.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Rupp Funeral Home from 2:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral mass will be on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church starting at 10:30 am. Officiating is Fr. Michael Anagbogu. Burial will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery.
